Man United Fan Blog July 22/23 2012

Well, the second match in the pre season tour was less than impressive, a 1-1 draw with Ajax CT, and Bebe scoring a late equaliser. Nothing against Bebe personally, but he is NOT Man United class. Most, if not all, fans could see this straight away, and yet here he is on the pre season tour popping up with an equaliser. Is Fergie treating the trip to South Africa as a shop window?

Strong rumours this morning, from both the Mirror and the Guardian (probably originally from the same source) that United have agreed a 26m plus deal for Lucas Moura, the plus being payments to agents and hangers on! Now, if this is the case, such a hefty signing demands someone else leaves. Positionally this could be Nani, or it could be Anderson as we seem to have loads of cover all over midfield, and there are also those who suggest Chicarito might be on his way. After his first season Real Madrid were reported to be interested, but that will have cooled after his second season. Second season syndrome is notorious at United, even the legendary Solskjaer didnt do too well, but I expect Chicarito to some back stronger and better this season, particularly as he has not had the distraction of the Olympics.

Per season prediction: Lucas Moura will be instrumental in winning back the title for United, but dont expect to see him before September.

Overall its been a quiet weekend, with the Tour De France and The Open taking centre stage, but there was an interesting story on thesportscampus.com indicating that Fergie has been given a 50m war chest to buy RVP and Moura. Think he might need a bit more than that.

Another interesting one is Diego. I saw him play for Atletico Madrid and he looks a player. Attacking midfielder with lots of tricks, but he is actually registered with Wolfsburg and they are on about demoting him to the reserves who play in the German fourth division. Surely worth a punt for someone. He's a Brazilian international who has been in the shadow of Kaka for some time, but got to be better than Kleberson!
