Man United Fan Blog 2012-13 November 12th

West Ham 0 Man City 0
City can consider themselves very lucky to cling on to a point as Nolan has a goal disallowed for offside when he clearly wasn't. Ultimately, West Ham will be happy with the point.

Fulham 2 Everton 2
Two goals from Fellaini weren't enough as Sidwell grabbed a last minute equaliser. Everton feeling like this was a missed opportunity while Fulham admitting they were lucky.

Norwich 1 Stoke 0
Another good win for Norwich who are picking up regular points and may prove me wrong about being relegation fodder. Stoke, on the other hand, could well slip down into the mire.

Sunderland 0 Aston Villa 1
The pressure mounts on Martin O'Neill as his old club grab three points. Have Villa finally turned the corner (just before they play us)?

Swansea 1 Chelsea 1
Great result for Swansea as Chelsea lose top spot and are showing all the signs of a club in crisis, with the Clattenburg incident still refusing to go away.

Tottenham 0 Wigan 1
There's a shock result every week at the moment, and this one definitely falls into that category. Wigan confirm my view that they are better than bottom of the table scrappers, and Tottenham confirm my view that they are not that good.

United 2 Arsenal 1
Definitely flattering to Arsenal, we should have won by five or six. In fact we should have won the first half by five or six. Its getting to the stage of the season when Arsenal will have to start getting results or risk missing out on the top 4. This results sees us top of the league, with only 28 games to go. I say that just in case the press start putting red ribbons on the Premier League trophy.

Liverpool 1 Newcastle 1
Remember all of those great Premier League games between these clubs? Well this wasn't one of them as two mid table scufflers played out a tame draw.

QPR 1 Reading 1
Two winless teams remain so, and I fancy QPRs chances of turning it around long before Reading.

West Brom 2 Southampton 0
Routine win for the high flying Baggies as Southampton drop ever nearer to the bottom.

Preston 3 Yeovil 0
An ex pat friend of mine will be pleased with this result that sees Preston safely through to the second round of the FA Cup. He will also be pleased that they have been drawn at home to Gillingham in the second round.

The Champions League returned and Chelsea stuttered to a narrow win over Shakhtar. Arsenal let slip a two goal lead at Schalke, whilst City fought back to grab a point against Ajax, complaining bitterly about penalties, offside goals, etc. Do they not remember the game at West Ham the previous weekend? United played terrible football for 80 minutes, then decided to do enough to win the match and the group with two games to spare. Thanks guys - anyone want tickets for Cluj at home? Nani and Anderson both returned to their inconsistent selves, whilst I am beginning to think that this is definitely a season too far for Giggsy. Result of the week was definitely Celtic putting one over on Barcelona, and it was great to see Messi moaning that they only scored their first goal because they had bigger players than the Catalans!

Aston Villa 2 Manchester United 3
Was there ever any doubt? We always seem to go behind against Villa, and we always seem to come back to win. Thats what Champions are made of. Worrying crisis developing at the back with Evans out and Smalling short of match sharpness. The writing is definitely on the wall for Rio as he struggles with diminishing pace. On the positive side Chicarito is back to his first season best when he forced his way into the starting lineup. Villa can also take heart from a great performance, and as I have said before I expect them to start climbing the table. Was Rooney really injured or was that limp just to avoid England duty?

Arsenal 3 Fulham 3
Arsenal could have won this with a late penalty, but my sources tell me they didn't really deserve it. Nice to see Berbatov operating at the right "big fish in small pond" level, and nice also to see Arsenal in a genuine slump. And does Wenger really get his coats from Primark?

Everton 2 Sunderland 1
Spirited display from Sunderland but even more so from Everton. Fellaini in the form of his life, as he has been since the opening game!

Reading 0 Norwich 0
Two relegation threatened sides not doing much to escape.

Southampton 1 Swansea 1
The Saints could have done with hanging on, but Swansea showed great character in coming back.

Stoke 1 QPR 0
Good win for Stoke that will ease their relegation worries even at this stage. The wait for a win goes on for QPR who play Southampton next week. Loser gets sacked?

Wigan 1 West Brom 2
Great win for the Baggies who have started the season well. Wigan can be disappointed but they are playing well enough to put this one behind them.

Chelsea 1 Liverpool 1
Another failure to win by Liverpool though I suppose they will be happy with a point at Stamford Bridge. Who isn't smiling at Terry's injury? Not because it will weaken Chlsea's defence, but just because its JT.

Newcastle 0 West Ham 1
Have I underestimated the Hammers? Certainly haven't over estimated Newcastle who showed that they massively overachieved last season.

Man City 2 Tottenham 1
Anything United can do...spouted the commentators. Well actually we were two down but thats another story. Great result for City, coming back like champions do. Looking like a big game at the Etihad on December 9th.

Stevenage 1 Preston 4
Fantastic win for North End, especially sweet for the manager as he went back to his former club.

  1. What about that Tracy Island of a stadium we played in? I've never seen anything like it in my life - a mountain 10 feet behind the net ??? Bonkers. How good was Van Persie's goal that night too?

  2. Its a good job that International Rescue weren't called out during the game. The pitch would probably have to have parted as Thunderbird 2 came through. Maybe that's why the lights went out!
